RELAY 2 is the second chapter in the RELAY exhibition series, begun in 2017 at CTRL+SHFT in Oakland. It is an exhibition of 9 emerging, women-identifying or non-binary artists in the Bay Area. A group of 3 initial artists each invited another fellow artist they admire, and that secondary group of artists each selected another artist to comprise a third group of three. The show displays work by all 9 artists together – 3 ‘chains’ of 3 artists and a total of 9 works.
The RELAY & RELAY 2 exhibitions aim to build networks of emerging artists working across multiple disciplines within the Bay Area, with a primary intent to support women-identifying and non-binary artists within our community.
Participating artists in RELAY 2 include: Amy Nathan, Aysia Stieb, Leila Weefur, Lisa Rybovich Crallè, Dionne Lee, Chinwe Okona, Marcela Pardo Ariza, Angela Martin Berry, and Alex Martinez. The shows are organized by Sophie Lourdes Knight and Hannah Perrine Mode.
